From microcosmos to macrocosmos
From microscope to telescope
From rock carvings made thousands of years ago to galaxies thousands of light years away
|
These statements summarize the book Images in Science. It would take thousands of words to explain the content of the 500 images found in this book. There are images from inside the body and inside cells, from a bullet captured in mid-air, plants, organisms found in water and air, minerals, technology, archaeology, satellite images, images from galaxies, historical images from the past 500 years and historical photography from the past 160 years.
The images range from rock carvings that are 4,000 years old to satellite images of Manhattan before and after September11, 2001. From the first time lightning was captured on film to the skin of a shark. From a tornado over the Gulf of Mexico to the opening of a coronary artery. From a green diamond to the SARS virus. From a CT scan of a human to the birth of a red blood cell.
Share the photographer's fascination with images in science. After all, it is an art everyone can enjoy.
